Examiner

It's not much, but it's a job.

I am currently writing as the Murfreesboro Cooking Examiner for examiner.com. I get paid by how many people view my articles (I will attempt to be prolific), so if you love me, head over to that site and read.
Thanks, kids.

Work

A sudden explosion in the catering business (no, not an actual bang, just an overload of jobs) has kept me from writing quite as much lately. But Lord knows I don't mind. All summer I have been hurting for money, and finally now it is coming in. And this job is actually pretty enjoyable.

Last night I came home hurting with a head ache. Its fast paced labor, constantly on your feet, but the pay is pretty good. I had many different things I wanted to write on, a couple of stories floating around, but the headache decided against that for me.

So instead, I nursed my dear little head, going to bed early and sleeping in late today.

Once I get some laundry and other mundane house chores completed for the day, perhaps I'll have something with a little more substance to post.

Oh, and I could possibly be posting elsewhere. So, if anyone still reads my sad little blog here, I will put up another link in a week or so. Cross your fingers, kids.

Ads

I find it humorous that my Google ads down there on the right now are all vegan and gluten free recipes.

If you remember correctly, they were once rather depressing about pet coffins, sleeping pills, psychologists' websites, etc.

Awesome.

Veganocity

I really have never been so happy with a lifestyle change. I take that back. This is the second happiest lifestyle change after my divorce.

I love eating vegan. And I have all but destroyed my taste for cheese and dairy. I really do not miss it. I feel healthier, and I do not obsess about food, binge, or purge. It's quite a relief to my system I am sure.

Currently, I am preparing black bean burgers and made from scratch vegan sandwich buns for dinner. While I am not forcing my room mates to eat vegan with me, I think these burgers are so delicious they will not even mind.

And the other female is preparing ground turkey burgers as a back-up for them, just in case.

Update

No pictures today, kids. I am in a bit of an uproar, and am only dropping in to update my status. I refuse to let the blog go like I have in the past. Although I also will not break down to this blog being an online journal. Blah. Too boring. So do not expect many posts like this one.

I was finally accepted to my transfer school from UTK. Thank God. Now I can start scheduling my classes and finish up that chapter of my life. It isn't where everyone else wants me to be, but it is where I need to be.
Also, I have started shopping at local farmer's markets around this area. And good Lord, do they have quite the selection. More so than I actually expected. And the food quality and taste is exponentially better than what I have found in grocery stores. Grocery stores ANYWHERE!
I am starting to completely lose my cravings for cheese, meat, and other dairy, and I crave different vegetables and fruit. Which is wonderful.
I enjoy working harder to plan out my meals, knowing that what I put in my body is healthy and completely beneficial to myself. I may keep this going longer than I thought I would.
Right now, I am off to find a vegan cookbook and to cure my little dog's hiccups.
If I find a really good recipe, I will post it later. I am thinking about posting the bread recipes I found. Because they were so delicious.
Veganocity rules.

I like it... Except that I can't add a title. Someone fix that for me.
I am slowly pushing myself completely into the technologically savvy world. I update twitter from my cell. So why not my blog as well? Let's see how this goes.

Success!!!

I did it! I did!

*Happy little embarrassing dance in a circle*

And it tastes like bread, too!

Attempts At Baking

I went to the grocery store earlier today. We're completely out of bread, but as I inspected the ingredients on every loaf, each time eggs and milk appeared.

So instead, I bought some yeast and flax seeds.

I'm waiting right now for the loaf of bread I threw together to rise (one more hour), then I'm going to shape it into a loaf and see what happens.

God, I hope it resembles actual bread.

If this works, maybe I will start making more of my own food and stop buying processed products.

That is a pretty large MAYBE though.

Day Second

I am actually getting into this vegan thing wholeheartedly. Which, knowing myself, I did not think would happen this easily. It is a little known fact, but I am in fact a cheese-aholic. Yes, yes, I know. I should have entered the 12 step program a long time ago, but alas, I could never give up my obsession.

No dairy for vegans. Which is a little like "No sleep for the weary."

This morning I wanted a smoothie. And again, no dairy for vegans.

I went online though, and found a simple and easy recipe for almond milk, almonds which we have a plenty in the pantry.

So my smoothie contains the almond milk, a little pure vanilla extract, a 1/2 tsp. of wild honey, blueberries, and raspberries.

And you know, its pretty great. I'm still not sure about drinking the almond milk on its own, but it works well in cooking.

Ahhhhh.... Now I shall sit on the veranda, enjoying my almond milk smoothie in the fog, and wait for inspiration to hit this little writer.

Morning

Last night I went to sleep curled up with my chihuahua.

This morning, I awoke to the chihuahua in a ball at my side, a large grey and white cat across my knees, and a small orange kitten batting at my toes. Purring insanely as he played.

It was nice.

Everything seems kind of hopeless for me as of late. It has been bitterly hard to find work, and my bank account is suffering because of it. All I receive are rejection letters in regards to my writing. And school seems like this never ending battle, forcing me into a life of servitude.

Don't get me started about my love life.

And then I wake up with these purring, sighing animals, and everything seems ok.

It's always a fresh start in the morning. No matter who you are, what you're doing, what is so bad about your life, every morning is another chance.

I just need to keep reminding myself that.

Spicy!

So for dinner...

I made a spicy southwest jalapeno black bean soup.

The garnish of homegrown tomatoes made it even more perfect and delicious.

My tongue is still on fire (so good!) and my tummy is stuffed.

And... time for more freaking laundry.

Disturbing On Many Levels

You know, I don't even know what to say about this.

If she can marry a ride, then why can't actual people marry each other without the government dipping their hands in the matter? Just really doesn't seem right to me.

More power to the woman, but I am going to say this.
I am fairly tolerant of all things, but marrying an inanimate object is ridiculous.

Can you actual marry and love something that cannot say "I do" or "I love you" back?

Day First

Day first as a vegan.
Still such a beginner and learner, so I will take ANY offering of advice, tips, recipes, etc. Just shoot me an email or leave a comment on here.

My first meal in the new lifestyle, my favorites, banana and cherries, and a big glass of water to wash it all down.

So far, so good.

New Diet

Alright.

I'm going to do it.

Maybe not permanently. But I need to get my eating habits under control.

I'm going vegan.

Starting...

NOW!

P.S. I owe it all to my Jay... I love you...
